Manila Ocean Park

I went to the Manila Ocean Park yesterday with some of my cousins, the ones I don't get to hang-out with since we're all busy with work. We brought along three little kids with us, Love, EJ and Sam. It was fun even if you we had to wait on queue for like an hour or so. The wait was worth it since we got to see lots of marine creatures. The sting rays are awesome! They're really big. I wanted to go like Steve Irwin, "Whoa, what a huge sting ray, she's a beauty (australian accent)" then go and jump into the tank ang grab the sting ray. I also saw something familliar, there are these giant clams that looks like you-know-what-is. They also have like a huge school of shark. Then there is this one spider crab from Japan which is really really big. I think it's around three or four feet if you stretch our its feet. Of course, everybody wants to see Nemo. We found Nemo there! A small school of Nemo that is.

I'll post the pictures once I am able to reactivate my wireless connection at home. It got deactivated since I was not able to pay for like three months now.

Since I was able to get the 8 to 5 grind at work with Saturday-Sunday off, there will be more bonding with my cousins and my friends. This only mean one thing, I need to get a lomo cam. I decided to go with the Holga 120 CFN. Yipee! I'll buy it this week. I'll try to go to Hidalgo on Saturday since I also need to have my Canon Ixus 40 fixed since my brother accidentally dropped it and broke the LCD. Sounds like "gastos".

E.O. 464 | Revoked

The President already revoked EO 464 in line with the demand of some religious groups. But the cover up does not end here. Members of the Executive Department still have a bullet left in their armory, Executive Privilege. Members of the Cabinet, particularly the ones involved with this sensationalized ZTE Broadband Deal would still be able to invoke their Executive Privilege in order for them not to answer certain questions during investigations, however, they are now mandated to attend investigations or inquiries whenever they are summoned to do so.

Having EO 464 revoked by the President, this does not mean that the members of the Executive Department would tell all the truth. Even if the President would revoke the Executive Privilege, there is still no assurance that all the truth will be exposed.

If you have watched the previous Senate Inquiry regarding the ZTE deal, you will notice that each official that was asked to become a resource person for the hearing has their own version of the story making it really funny, but to some, disgusting. They are all trying to "protect" the government and the President but why the hell do they have contradicting stories to tell.

I am not a big fan of Jun Lozada since he now think that he is one hell of hero just because he blurted out the stinky system of our government especially the Executive Department. Come on now, we are all aware that most, if not all government officials are corrupt, even their family members could be related to corruption or illegal things like narcotics, smuggling and other related illegal business. Jun Lozada seems to be revered by many because his expose and the media seems to sensationalize every statement made by the "Probinsyanong Intsik". I commend him though, for admitting that he was also involved with some minor corrupt practices while he was still serving as a government official. I commend him for being able to, just like what he said moderate the greed.

Corruption is now a political culture that would be really hard to wipe out from the current government officials. Corruption exists even in the smallest unit of our government. From the tanods to the president. Corruption is in every office of the government. As disgusting as it may be, that is the truth.

It is nice to see that once again, people are converging to overthrow the President from her office. I have nothing against it. But I heard the president say something like “The world celebrated with us at EDSA 1. The world tolerated us with EDSA 2. But another EDSA revolution will make us a laughingstock of the world.” Even adding this statement, “it will drive investors away."

Come to think of it, the President has a point. Political turmoil would definite impact the economy. Investors would think twice to put up their business here in the Philippines.  I am in full favor of her resigning as the President of the Philippines. Delicadeza. That is the word, delicadeza. I do not want to see our streets full of people protesting which could end up in anarchy. I wish that the President would silently step down.

It's her birthday!

I am really lovin' my new schedule. Having a weekend off is really great. I get to hang out more often with my cousins. It's been a while since we last went out and party. I was actually already drinking with my dad and other uncle when I remembered that it was Ate Krissie's birthday so I sent her a birthday greeting through SMS and even teased her to treat us out. She then gave me a ring and told me to get and ready and go to Aruba at Metrowalk. I thought she was still at home and that she will just pick us up since I was with my other cousin as well. They were already on their way to Ortigas so Kuya JR and hesitated to go but we ended up going since it's our cousin's birthday.

We wanted to bring a car but of course, since Kuya JR and I both doesn't have a valid license since we're too lazy to have it renewed. We opted to commute instead. We got to Aruba at around 10 in the evening. Ate Krissie is with her boyfriend and Arvin and her brother Dino. She also brought along some of her officemates and her boyfriend's friends. There were already hyped up when we got there since they already had several rounds of booze. My cousin Dino dated Paola, Ate Krissie's officemate and boy, they got a bit wild. I haven't seen Dino like that before. I've seen him sing his heart out during our videoke sessions. He's just 19 and he's already been to Air Force One. He's a high roller that's why. Paola I think is already 22. So pwede!

Dino kissing Paola.

 They look good together.

They even danced like crazy on the stage.

Paola, Ate Krissie, Diane and their other officemate, forgot her name.

Ate Krissie, Diane and the other officemate at stage going crazy.

After Aruba, we decided to go to Embassy. I actually feel wasted already since I drank like a I haven't had booze for ages. When we got to Embassy, I got a bit hyped after seeing all these hotties! It's been ages since I last went to the place that's why I got a bit excited. I think it's been almost a year or even more than year since I last went to Embassy. Of course, Kuya JR, being hiphop as he can get, we can't get in again because of dress codes. Everybody's energy went down of course. We got a bit energized again when we were informed that we  can get inside Jaipur for free. We're on the guest list baby! But the place is jam packed! We decided to go home instead. It's 4am anyway. There would always be next time. We all have weekend offs anyway. I guess, it's gonna be next week. Hmmm... Maybe we'll try Ascend. I heard the place is really good.

Thou Shalt Not...

The Vatican recently updated their list of Mortal Sins. Pretty bizzare if you'd ask me. Not that I am an atheist of some sort, it's just that I find it weird how come they can simply update it like that. It is as if they have a direct phone line to God and God simply told them to include something else in the list of Mortal Sins.

They said that it is now a mortal sin to be uber rich. I mean, what on earth are they thinking? Is it now a sin to be working your ass off and earn more money than the others? Remember how the old saying goes? "The rich becomes richer and poor becomes poorer". Ever wondered why that is the case? The poor people would rather stay at home and drink all day even if they do not have anything to eat. I am sick and tired of hearing poor people saying that the government isn't doing anything to help them out. Come on, give me a break! If they are busting their asses at some factory or junk shop, they would have at least something to eat for the day. I don't think that it is a sin to have lots of money especially if you have busted your ass to get it, right? I think the right thing here would be is to include graft and corruption on the list instead of this.

One more thing, the Pope wears a pair of red Prada shoes. That is like thousands and thousands of pesos. Vatican owns a freaking airline. They even run their own bank. The paintings that they have are worth millions of dollars. The summer vacation palace of the Pope is worth millions as well.

They also said that it is now a sin to be associated in any projects or research that would refer to genetic manipulation or cloning. Again, give me a break. Is it a sin to be a smart ass who can come up with something that would cure diseases through genetic manipulation? I don't think so.

I have no problems about them adding pollution, tampering with the order of nature and drug abuse. I think it is obvious enough that it should be added to the list of Mortal Sins.

I think, being a pedophile and being a child molester should be included as well. I suppose you guys are well aware of the scandals wherein clerics are involved in pedophilia and child molestation. I wonder why they did not include that.

Vatican says that causing poverty is now included in the list but they do not allow or encourage the use of condom or any other birth control methods aside from abstinence. Come on guys, the poor people of the world are motsly the ones that has like a battalion of kids and that is one reason as to why they remain poor.

The mere use of condom is being condemened by Vatican. It is one way of preventing the spread of Aids and HIV. Should it be considered as a sin if you get laid and use a condom in the process? Does preventing the spread of this killer disease a sin? I don't think so.

*This article is my OWN point of view. I am not an atheist. I am a God fearing individual. ;p

Kidnapped

Got home last Sunday at around 4am, drunk and wasted. Slept for a few hours then my brother woke me up and told me dad passed out, he was drunk as well. I thought I will be driving like a mad man to the hospital that day but thank God, he regained consciousness. I was at my dad's room just in case. Just as I was about to go back to snooze land, my brother bothered me again and told me that somebody is looking for me. I'm like, "damn it! I am about to sleep!". To my surprise, it's my officemates. They are trying kidnap me and bring me to a far away place. I already told them that I am not going with them but they went out of their way just kidnap me. What the hell can I do, they are there already. So I packed my things and brought my Holga. Grabed a bottle of Fundador from my dad's collection and there we go!

We left my place at around 9 in the morning. I was not able to grab a bite for breakfast, I was so fucking hungry. Good thing is, it's not traffic. So in  like an hour, we are already at Victoria, Laguna, we decided to buy "kinulob na itik", local version of peking duck. While waiting for the duck to be cooked, I decided to grab a quick bite at the near by carinderia. I ate "gotong batangas", it did not taste good or should I say, I did not taste anything, the broth was tasteless. But anyway, just like what they say, "laman tiyan na rin yun".

After a few minutes of drive, we saw a mall in the middle of no where and we went inside to check out the grocery. We need to buy some stuff for the swimming. After another few minutes of drive, we dropped by a carinderia to buy rice and other foods. Saw Pacman fighting then we drove off.

From the National Higway, I think it took us another hour or so to get to the final destination, Taytay Falls in Majayjay, Laguna. The road to the place looked and felt like the video game, Initial D. Nice place to drift cars.

The entrance fee is just 20 pesos if you won't stay there overnight. From the parking lot of the place, it took us like 10 to 15 minutes of trek. The travel time is worth it. The place is really nice. The cool temperature of the place is actually a great chance to relax. The trees and ferns are nice to see. It was a great escape from the city.

We drank in the river, sat on the rocks. Simple life. uncomplicated life.

I, being a photography addict, took lots of pictures of the trip. It was my first time to use my Holga 120FN. I think I fucked up my first roll and I think I would not have it processed anymore since I think it will be a waste of money but I haven't decided yet but hey, it's my first my fist roll so I think i might as well have it processed. Lomography is all about trial and error anyway.

I'll post some of my digital pictures here on a later day. Maybe... If I feel like it.

Light Play

Aside from my Holga, I brought my Sony Cybershot T100 HD digital camera. Here's some of the pictures I took from the annual Good Friday procession at Poblacion, Makati City. Below are some samples of my shots. Long exposure is one of my favorite photography style. I'll take my rolls to the photo processing shop tomorrow and have it developed. Can't wait to see the results of my first two rolls of colored negative film shot from my Holga 120FN.

It Ends Tonight

After my shift and after having a stick of ciggy with Frances, I'm off to Brgy. Poblacion in Makati City. I grew up in the place. Spent most of my childhood there and I still know the familiar faces there. Took a jeepney ride from PeopleSupport and got off in front Pacific Star and did a little trek to P. Burgos St.

While I was waiting for my relatives, I took a little walk around Poblacion. Frances would probably know why. I am looking for a familiar face in the crowd waiting for the procession to start. It sucks that I didn't see the person I am looking.

I guess it's a sign to completely move on. It's been almost a year anyway. I guess, everything should end tonight.

Are we fit to watch "Fitna"

What is it with this film? With all the fuss about this short film makes me want to see it as well. I have nothing against whatever religion because if we would read books about religion, it is obvious that we all have the same roots, no matter what religion we have.

Freedom of expression has its limits though. The film "Fitna" could be artistically made but there could also be parts of the movie the film that would depict descrimination which could lead to an unwanted stereotype on muslims that they are a bunch of suicide bombers and terrorists. We should not have a general thinking that all muslims are war freaks. Come on, give them a break. There are just some radical or should I say, renegade muslim pact but not all of them. I personally had a muslim officemate before and she did not declare jihad or something.

The only problem that I see here is that the renegade muslims are taking the words of Koran by its literal meaning. Which should not be the case.

Remember when Pope John Paul II died, top leaders of Islam were present during the burial. They are also nice.

Bounce | March Issue

I wrote a short, a really short article about my college escapade for Bounce wherein my friend is working as the Managing Editor. She asked me to write something the usual thing I do back in college. Drugs. Yes, you read that right. Drugs.

I use to smoke pot like everyday and take Valium at times if weed is not available. I'm way pass that stage though. But recently, a good friend gave me like ten tablets of Valium which is very timely since I have been having a hard time getting a really good rest and sleep. I finished the pill in like a week. Took one tablet a day. It felt so good.

I would never consider myself as a drug dependent though. If there's no stuff around, I won't go anywhere just to buy it.  But anyway, go check out Bounce Magazine. Most of my friends wrote articles there and they featured Heler Designs side by side Team Manila. I made it happen! I should get paid for the media exposure Nom got because of me.

Something Fishy

I just bought like a thousand peso worth of color negatives and slide films last Saturday when I went to Hidalgo. I need to hoard since I won't be back there until the next payday to have my film SLR fixed. Thank God, it will only cost me 650 to have it fixed. I think I fucked up the shutter and something broke inside the camera. The camera is old though. My Aunt actually gave it to me so that I can use it for my photo journalism class back in college and it suddenly stopped working way back. Only now that my passion for photography was revived that I decided to have it fixed. I was planning to switch to digital photography that why my old beat up film SLR gathered dust. In a week or two, she'll be revived and she'll be producing great photos once more together with my first lomo camera, my Holga 120FN. I actually bought a Jansport backpack which is great whenever I'll be going somewhere to take pictures since it can carry all my cameras and it even has a space for the tripod. Aside from the cameras, it can also carry a few  more pairs of clothes. I don't want to talk about the price though. Damn sales lady, she made me buy it. Lolz. Maybe we should get her, I think she'll be great help to improve our conversion as a team. Lolz.

Aside from having my film SLR fixed, I want to get a new lomo camera. I am planning to buy the FishEye2 from Jennie Castillo (http://jenniecastillo.multiply.com). She has different packages for the FishEye2. Because of the great packages that she is offering, I am having a great deal of dilemma as to what package to buy. I have been burning huge amounts of money for my current addiction and I just want to make sure that I get what I want or at least, the best package. I think, all three packages are at par with each other. Help me decide guys.

FishEye2 with Color Splash

FishEye2 with Colosplash | P6,000

This package includes a FishEye2 camera which has the fisheye view finder and the ColorSplash. This is the least loved package for me. Lolz. But I would always consider this. ColorSplash is the way to go to add exciting colors to lomo photo.

FishEye2 and Submarine Case | P6.800

I wanted to get this one because I'll be hitting the beach next week with my relatives and probably would have another team building with my officemates. I think that this is a perfect match for summer since I can take a dip with the FishEye2 up to 65 feet underwater. This would a great camera to bring especially if I'll get a chance to snorkel around reefs. But what is it for me after summer? I can use it during the rainy days to take pictures under the rain though. Help me justify why I need the Submarine Case.

FishEye2 with RingFlash

Ring Flash Components

FishEye2 and Ring Flash | P6,800

This package is something that I really like. Look at that mean looking flash machine. It would definitely light up that face of the person you will capture with the FishEye. Not just simply lighten it up but it can definitely color it up since this package comes with several color rings as well. You can even set the flasher to have different colors which will be an explosion of colors and it would definitely give the photos a different feel. This is my first choice actually. Same price with the Submarine Case package.

So guys, please help me! Which package should I get? Place a comment right away!
