The end does not justify the means...
...or does it?
I am giving a present to this girl I really like. I didn't tell her that I actually bought it for her, what I told her is that a friend gave the gift I'm giving her which doesn't have any use for me. But in reality, I just bought it randomly for her because I know that she would like it and she would use it. I know it would make he smile especially now that she's pretty much stressed with all the projects that she has.
But anyway, what's your take on this? Good or bad? You can call this a white lie if you want to. Does the statement, "the end does not justify the means" applicable in this situation?
